She began her singing career in 2009, preforming in local musicals. Sydney has performed in over 10 Broadway musicals with different local theatre companies. Her favorite performances were in Legally Blonde, West Side Story, and Sweet Charity.
In 2010, Sydney met the legendary, Grammy winning producer, Narada Michael Walden. Sydney began singing with Narada at his 2010 concert, “Spring Fling with Strings” where she performed “Lean on Me” as her first solo performance.
Sydney began writing songs in 2017. Her debut song, “Love is Stronger than Smoke and Fire” will be released in February, 2018. It is co-written and produced by Narada Michael Walden who also produced such legendary stars as Whitney Houston, Mariah Cary, Aretha Franklin, Sting and George Michael.
In addition to her love for music and acting, Sydney has always had a love for being a social justice warrior. In 2015, she began high school in Marin County, where she joined the Mock Trial team. This is where her passion for the law began to flourish. In addition to the Mock Trial team, she also began interning for a criminal defense attorney. Being an advocate for social justice quickly became her passion. Sydney began exploring ways to combine her music with that passion.
In October 2017, Sydney began writing her first song with Narada. At the same time, the devastating wildfires burned through Northern California. As she and Narada wrote, Sydney was inspired with the idea of creating a song not for herself, but instead a song focused on helping others, specifically the fire victims. Sydney was horrified at what had happened to so many people in Northern California, so she and Narada sat down and discussed lyrics and ideas, and ultimately created “Love is Stronger than Smoke and Fire”. They both decided that all proceeds would go to a charity to support the fire victims in their time of need.
It is with great pride that Sydney’s first song, Love is Stronger Than Smoke and Fire be an inspirational source of healing to all California fire victims. To that end, Sydney partnered with the Red Cross and via a YouCaring campaign is excited to donate all the proceeds of the song to help California fire victims.
Sydney is excited about writing new songs and creating more music. But her immediate goal is to ensure that all the fire victim’s lives are restored to the best of their ability. Like her father, Former Mayor of San Francisco Willie Brown, Sydney believes in justice for anyone and everyone, no matter what.
